Departments

The LELPA introduced a number of obligations for the MLS. The objectives of the MLS under section 64 of the LELPA introduced, among others, the following responsibilities for the MLS:

1. promotion of professionalism,
2. regulation of the legal profession,
3. promotion of research,
4. protection of matters of public interest touching, ancillary or incidental to the law and,
5. promotion of integrity, competence and transparency.

Based on these objectives, the 2021 Annual General Meeting adopted the new organisational structure which created the following departments:

• ICT and Communications
• Compliance and Ethics
• Continuous Professional Development
• Projects and Advocacy
• Finance and Administration
• Research, Parliamentary and Legislation
